Home at Last

Well it has been an interesting journey but I believe we are moved in (minus some clothes an knick knacks) and set up. I still need to do some painting and a tad more decorating but we have settled in to the house nicely. We have successfully updated all the kitchen appliances, vent hood and dishwasher installed by my husband and father. We got a new washer and dryer...we had to do some tweaking on the dryer to install it but it is working great. We got a satellite dish. ♥♥♥ ...and we just received fios internet today.

I have made two big trips to Ikea which resulted in a new chair and ottoman for the familyroom and a new kitchen table and chairs for the breakfast nook. We have made countless trips to Lowes for new light fixtures, paint, and tons of odds and ins.

Hobby Lobby has helped decorating, along with Target. Target helped me outfit Lorelai's bathroom which super cute items.

I have a lot more pictures to take and share but here are some to hold you over:

6 months!

I had to touch on Lorelai's 6 month appointment!

She is 16.7 lbs and 27 ins long! She is tall and lean and doing great. The Dr. was impressed by her ability to sit up so well and how pretty her skin looks. :) I didn't count how many times he said "perfect" while examining her but she is doing awesome...and so big! She is already half way through her first year! And as of 2 nights ago, she has taken to sleeping through the night. She still stirs and fusses in her sleep for her paci, so I do get up somewhat but nothing compared to her previous schedule. I am so excited, but I expect her to break the pattern soon...at least I know she is capable of sleeping all night. ;)
She is trying to crawl and get frustrated very fast when she can't get around. She much prefers her walker and moves around like no other in it.
Now we just need to move in to the house so she can adjust to her new home!

House to Home

Just to brief you all on our progress I will update you on my previous list:

  • We close on our house in about 2 weeks
  • I am trying to organize and pack in little intervals as not to upset my dog or baby (for different reasons)
  • My brother, Zachary, graduated from UT this weekend and I am helping out my family by taking care of their dogs and keeping an eye on the house while they are gone
  • My mom's car is having more troubles and I see more driving around in my future ;)
  • My brother, Jacob, is graduating high school in a couple weeks and I am sure there will be some festivities to follow
  • I have to make a list of people/places I need to contact for a change of address later
  • We need to inform the leasing office we will breaking lease after the month of June
  • I think Lorelai is starting to show early signs of teething? You never can tell with her
  • I need to shop around for appliances to get a feel for what I want at a price I like
  • I need to paint some of my grandmother's old furniture so it will match our stuff in the house
  • I will most likely go into panic mode soon over all the paperwork and legality stuff we will need to do for closing...like write a very large check from our savings. Yikes!
  • Remember Lorelai's 6 month appointment at the beginning of June. 6 months? Really?
  • Paint the house once we get in
  • Remember to print and send off a letter to a friend in USMC
  • Start up utilities in the new house (mainly TV! Sad, I know, but I really do enjoy having it on during chores and such)
  • Actually move...and the chaos of all that includes. I have no idea how LEL and Phoebe will transition.

So basically I have accomplished a lot...and still have a lot to go. I have been painting my you-know-what off; I have finished the furniture, the bedroom, and the kitchen. I have the familyroom, the main hallway, and the chair rail walls in the living and diningroom. I still need to paint the other bedrooms and hopefully the master bathroom but that can happen later. 95% of our appliances will be delivered and install on Tuesday. That is the washer, the dryer, the oven/stove, the vent hood, and the dishwasher. The refrigerator will be delivered on Saturday...stinks, but oh well. I look forward to the shiny newness! We have the water, electricity, the gas, and the mail all set up at the house. We have changed ALL the lock and outdoor knobs for a clean and more secure feeling. I love them! We still have a lot of boxes to move and all our furniture. We have to change some lighting and switch around some fans. We have to set up satellite and internet. I already see more changes and update I want to make but that will have to go on the bottom of the list.
I enjoy all the projects. It makes me feel productive, accomplished, and it exercises my creative muscles. I will post pictures later...once we get a little more done! ;)
